Peter is a proud Kamilaroi man from Narrabri central N.S.W. He is married with two adult daughters and a granddaughter and has also raised three children in kinship care.

Peter joined the BBY team as CEO in July 2024, following many years as CEO of an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation in Melbourne. He has over a decade of experience working within the Victorian Aboriginal community and has successfully led an increase in community engagement and growth in services.

In Victoria, Peter was heavily involved in community over many years, sitting on a number of justice and child protection advisory committees advocating for his community. This experience included 7 years at the Koori Court for both young people and adults, and time as a volunteer bail justice.

Peter is passionate about fostering social and cultural connections, celebrating his rich heritage, and promoting self-determination and healing. Peter is deeply committed to community well-being and thrives on making a positive impact.

Rob joined BBY in January, 2024 as a Technical Adviser (Evaluation). Born and raised in Sydney on Dharug country, Rob has been living in Katherine, on Jawoyn, Wardaman, and Dagoman country since 2004. With over two decades of hands-on experience in community development across northern Australia, Rob's work is driven by a commitment to supporting Aboriginal communities in defining and realizing their aspirations.

Rob holds a Master of Evaluation from the University of Melbourne's Centre for Program Evaluation (CPE). His work across a diverse range of evaluation settings has equipped him with a robust foundation in data gathering, analysis, research, and evaluation with a community development approach.

Passionate about contributing to positive change, Rob is dedicated to utilizing evaluation as a tool to understand and improve actions and ideas, fostering empowerment within communities to bring about the changes they want to see.

Prue joined the BBY team in April 2023. She has a background in Sociology and previous experience working in disability and youth empowerment, including living and working in the remote Tjurabalan communities of the Kimberley.

Prue is a proud Māori woman, descending from the Ngāti Maru and Tainui tribes in Aotearoa. She draws on this in her commitment to social justice and systemic change.

Carlene is a local Aboriginal woman of Miriwoong and Waanyi decent, born and raised in the East Kimberley and is a mother to her young son.

Carlene joined the BBY team in October 2023. She has spent the past several years primarily working with Aboriginal Corporations in various roles from community engagement, management, administration, project coordination and delivery. One of her proudest professional achievements when she had the opportunity to meet and work closely with Traditional Owners throughout the East Kimberley.

Having grown up in the Kimberley, she has witnessed first-hand the many issues and obstacles Kimberley Aboriginal people are faced with on a daily basis.

Carlene sees working with BBY as a great opportunity to continue her personal and professional journey in striving for better outcomes and opportunities, as well as progressing and achieving change within our community.

Taylen started with BBY in March 2024. Taylen is a young Aboriginal man, from Kununurra, the traditional lands of the Miriwoong people., which has deeply influenced his cultural identity. He is connected to the Martu and Nyiyaparli peoples from the Pilbara and the Gurindji NT and Kija tribes of the East Kimberley.

Before joining BBY, he worked various roles, from hands-on landscaping to carpentry, as well as community services work empowering young men to strive for a brighter future.

Looking ahead, he wants to work towards building Indigenous empowerment and advocating to keep culture strong. I am committed to nurturing resilience and respect within his community and beyond.

Calyca Rogers joined the BBY team in April 2024 in the role of Community Development Adviser (Early Years). Calyca is a Jaru, Waanyi/Garawa woman raised in Kununurra with family ties stretching from remote East Kimberley communities through to the Gulf of Carpentaria. She is passionate about early years pedagogy and Aboriginal ways of learning and wants to one day see a world where all children reach their full potential.

Calyca has over 10 years of early childhood experience working in a regulated care environment and was previously the Director at Woothoo-woothoong thoon Ninggoowoong Dawang Children’s Service. She is skilled in developing and facilitating educational training programs specialising in supporting children holistically to thrive and strengthening the knowledge and skills of peoples working with children.

Calyca believes strongly that strengthening relationships between communities will strengthen outcomes for all involved. She is committed to empowering First Nations peoples to achieve self-determining outcomes to Close the Gap.  She sees working with BBY as a way of positively contributing to the community she loves and advocating for our future leaders.
